The Contemporary Controls EIBA5-100T BAS Switch is a 5-port unmanaged Ethernet switch built specifically for Building Automation Systems. It delivers 10/100 Mbps non-blocking performance on every port with full plug-and-play operation, no IP address, no web interface, and no firmware setup. The unit comes in a shallow-depth, low-profile metal enclosure with panel-mount housing with corner mounting flanges, designed to fit comfortably in BAS control cabinets where rear depth is limited. A half-wave rectified low-voltage power supply accepts 10-36 VDC or 24 VAC, allowing the switch to share a common 24VAC control bus with actuators, valves, sensors, and thermostats. A writable label and matching cable tags help organize the field-device wiring at install time.

Best For
Building Automation System (BAS) panels with shallow-depth control cabinets where the unit must mount flat against a panel using screws, where 5 device drops, plug-and-play simplicity, and the ability to share an existing 24VAC control bus are needed. The EIBA5-100T is UL 508 Listed and c-UL Listed for Industrial Control Equipment, making it directly acceptable for use in UL 508A panels. Indoor / climate-controlled enclosures only — the 0°C to +60°C operating range is not rated for outdoor or wide-temperature applications. If your panel uses standard TS-35 DIN-rail, see the EIBA5-100T/R (DIN-rail mount version of this same switch).
5-Year Warranty Backed by Contemporary Controls' 5-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.

Frequently Asked Questions

EIBA5-100T or EIBA5-100T/R: which mount do I need?

Both SKUs are the same switch with different mounting hardware. Choose EIBA5-100T if you need to screw the unit directly to a panel through corner mounting flanges (the panel-mount version). Choose EIBA5-100T/R for the DIN-rail mount style. Electrical specs, port count, LED scheme, and UL listing are identical between the two.

Can the EIBA5-100T be installed in a UL 508A control panel?

Yes. The EIBA5-100T is UL 508 Listed and c-UL Listed for Industrial Control Equipment. UL 508-listed components are directly acceptable for use in UL 508A panels without invalidating the panel listing, as long as the device is supplied from a Class 2 limited-energy source per the panel's circuit requirements.

Can I power the switch from my existing 24VAC control bus?

Yes — this is the marquee feature of the EIBA series for BAS applications. The half-wave rectified low-voltage power supply allows the switch to share a common 24VAC source with actuators, valves, sensors, thermostats, and other field devices. With only 6 VA of AC draw, it adds minimal load to the existing Class 2 transformer feeding the field-device bus. Contemporary Controls also offers wall-mount plug-in transformers (AI-XFMR for 120 VAC and AI-XFMR-E for 230 VAC) for installations that need a dedicated power source.

Does the EIBA5-100T support redundant power input?

No. Unlike the Skorpion EISK series, the EIBA5-100T uses a 3-pin power connector with a single primary input (HI / COM / chassis) and does not provide a backup terminal. For installations that require redundant power (primary + backup) or a fault relay output for power-loss alarming, see the Skorpion EISK5-100T (DIN-rail mount with redundant input) or the wide-temp EISW5-100T (with fault relay).

Does the switch require any configuration?

No. The EIBA5-100T is fully unmanaged and plug-and-play. It has no IP address, no web interface, and no firmware to set up. Each port auto-negotiates speed (10/100) and duplex (half/full), and Auto-MDIX accepts either straight-through or crossover cables.

What do the per-port LEDs indicate?

Each port has a single Activity/Link LED that combines speed, link state, and traffic into one indicator using colour and flashing. Solid green = 100 Mbps link established. Solid yellow = 10 Mbps link established. Flashing (green or yellow) = data transmission on that port. Off = no link. A separate green Power LED confirms supply status.

Is the EIBA5-100T suitable for outdoor installations?

No. The EIBA5-100T has an indoor operating range of 0°C to +60°C and IP30 protection, and is not rated for outdoor or extreme-temperature applications. Outdoor or wide-temperature deployments require a weather-rated enclosure or a switch rated for the conditions (see the EISW5-100T for a wide-temp -40 to +75°C alternative).

How is the EIBA series different from the Skorpion EISK5-100T?

Both are 5-port 10/100 indoor unmanaged switches with UL 508 ICE listing and 24VAC bus-sharing capability. The EIBA series is positioned as the cost-effective BAS-focused option with a shallow-depth low-profile form factor (panel or DIN-rail mount), single Activity/Link LED per port, and a single primary power input. The Skorpion EISK5-100T is the more feature-rich industrial option with a tall narrow form factor (26 mm wide DIN-rail only), dual L+D LEDs per port for separate link/rate and duplex status, and a 4-pin connector with redundant power backup capability.
