Where These Products Fit in a BAS Network

Connecting Legacy MS/TP to a New BAS Head-End

You have a Tridium, Distech, Niagara, or KMC supervisor running BACnet/IP. The field devices are still on MS/TP. The BASRT-B (or BASRTP-B for PoE installs) routes between the two networks.

Expanding a BAS Network in a Mechanical Room

You need 5 or 8 more Ethernet ports for additional controllers, IP-enabled VAVs, or a touchscreen graphics display. The EISK5-100T or EISK8-100T drops into the panel and adds capacity without configuration.

Common Questions on the Contemporary Controls Line

What’s the difference between the BASRT-B and BASRTP-B?

Same routing function — BACnet/IP to BACnet MS/TP. The BASRTP-B adds Power over Ethernet capability, so it can be powered through the Ethernet cable instead of a local 24V supply. If your network drop has PoE available and you want to skip the local power transformer, choose the BASRTP-B.

Are the BASRT-B and BASRTP-B BTL listed?

Yes. Both are listed by the BACnet Testing Laboratories (BTL), which is the standard certification spec’d on most commercial BAS jobs.

Do the EISK switches need configuration?

No. The EISK5-100T and EISK8-100T are unmanaged switches — plug and play. Auto-negotiation and auto-MDIX handle speed, duplex, and cable polarity automatically. Power them with 24V AC or DC and they’re ready to pass traffic.

Do I need any proprietary software or licenses?

No. The BASRT-B and BASRTP-B routers are configured entirely through a web browser — no proprietary tool, no per-point license, no recurring fees. The EISK switches are unmanaged and require no configuration at all.

What’s the lead time on items not in stock?

Lead times are shown directly on each product page. Most non-stock items ship within 1–2 weeks from Contemporary Controls. Call us for an exact ETA on any specific SKU.

Do you stock the Sedona controller line?

No. We focus on the BAS networking side — routers, gateways, and Ethernet switches. If you need a Sedona controller, we can refer you to a Contemporary Controls partner who specializes in that line.
