What is a Fuji Electric VFD?
A Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), also called an AC drive or inverter, controls motor speed by adjusting output frequency and voltage. Fuji Electric FRENIC VFDs are commonly applied to HVAC fan and pump systems where precise speed control improves comfort, reduces energy use, and helps protect equipment during starts and load changes.
At ZotSupply, we stock popular Fuji Electric VFD families for commercial HVAC controls, irrigation pump systems, and general-purpose industrial motor applications. Shop by series below, or browse all drives to compare power ranges, control modes, and communication options.

How to choose a Fuji VFD
- Start with voltage and motor amps. Confirm the drive input class matches your supply and that the drive output current meets or exceeds motor FLA.
- Match the load type. Fans and pumps are usually variable torque. Conveyors and mixers are usually constant torque.
- Pick the control method you need. V/f is common. Dynamic torque vector and PM motor control are available depending on series and options.
- Plan BAS communication early. Modbus RTU is common. MEGA G2 also supports BACnet MS/TP and Metasys N2 as standard, plus other networks via option cards.
- Confirm environment and enclosure needs. Consider NEMA protection, heat management, and altitude. Add the right kits and accessories for the install.
Fuji VFD FAQs
What analog signals can I use for speed reference?
Common options are 0–10 VDC and 4–20 mA. Confirm your exact terminals and scaling in the drive manual.
What is the difference between source and sink inputs?
Sink is typical for dry-contact control. Source is used when the inputs are driven from an external 24 V source. Check your wiring diagram before landing control wires.
Can I run a 3-phase motor with single-phase input power?
Often, yes. The drive can accept single-phase input (on specific models or with oversizing rules) and output 3-phase to the motor. Verify the exact rating guidance for your model.
Do Fuji drives support BAS communications?
Modbus RTU is widely used. FRENIC-MEGA (G2) also supports BACnet MS/TP and Metasys N2 as standard. Additional industrial networks are available via option cards.
Do Fuji VFDs have PID control for pressure or flow?
Yes. PID is commonly used with a pressure transducer for constant pressure pump control. For multi-pump systems, MEGA G2 also includes advanced pump functions like cascade and alternation.
What is the most important sizing detail?
Current and voltage. Always match drive voltage class to the motor and ensure the drive output current meets or exceeds motor FLA. HP alone is not enough.
Variable torque vs constant torque. What should I choose?
Fans and pumps are usually variable torque. Conveyors are usually constant torque. Duty rating and overload capability can change by application and model.
What settings should I plan to enter at startup?
Plan to enter motor nameplate basics such as base frequency, rated voltage, motor amps, and protection settings. Use the quick setup menu when available.
Can these drives help in irrigation pump systems?
Yes. A VFD varies pump speed to hold steady discharge pressure, which improves control for drip and micro-drip zones and can reduce energy use versus constant-speed pumping.
What if I am replacing an older drive model?
Send us the old drive model number, motor nameplate, and application details. We can help identify a current Fuji replacement and confirm any control or communication requirements.
