Current transformers (CTs) for metering are categorized into two accuracy classes: Standard Accuracy CTs, offering 0.5 – 1% accuracy for general metering projects, and Revenue Grade CTs, ANSI-certified for superior accuracy in revenue metering applications. The options include Split Core, Clamp On, and Rogowski coils. To select the right CT, a systematic approach is recommended, answering key questions about the power meter, anticipated amperage, need for revenue-grade accuracy, and project duration.
