ACI A/RH2-O-SUN : Outside Air Relative Humidity Sensor, 2% Accuracy, RH Outputs: 0-5, 0-10 VDC & 4-20mA (Default), Plastic Outdoor Enclosure (Euro) with SunShield, Made in USA
The ACI Sun Shield is a protective solution designed to safeguard relative humidity sensors in situations where there is no natural overhang or shade available. It consists of nine molded, white plastic plates that serve to reduce the thermal impact of direct sunlight while increasing airflow between the plates. In addition to mitigating the effects of solar radiation, the Sun Shield also provides an extra level of protection for the sensors against rain and snow.
The Sun Shield is compatible with the ACI +/-2% RH transmitter, which offers field-selectable output options of 4-20mA, 0-5VDC, and 0-10VDC. This flexibility allows the transmitter to integrate seamlessly into various monitoring and control systems.
The primary applications for the Sun Shield are in outdoor humidity monitoring. By using the shield, the relative humidity sensors can obtain more accurate readings by minimizing the impact of solar radiation and other external factors. The Sun Shield ensures that the sensors are shielded from direct sunlight while maintaining sufficient airflow for reliable measurements.
For optimal performance and accuracy, it is recommended to follow these tips when using the Sun Shield:
- Place the shield in an open area: Ensure that the shield is installed in a location with unrestricted air flow or wind to promote accurate humidity readings.
- Keep away from large radiant heat sources: Avoid positioning the shield near sun-exposed buildings, solar panels, or any other significant heat sources that could influence the temperature and humidity measurements.
- Avoid proximity to exhaust vents, electrical machinery, and motors: These sources can introduce artificial airflow or heat that may impact the accuracy of the readings.
- Do not install over or near sprinklers: Continuous exposure to moisture from sprinkler systems can potentially damage the sensors, so it's important to keep the shield away from such areas.
By adhering to these guidelines, you can optimize the performance of the Sun Shield and ensure accurate and reliable humidity measurements in outdoor environments. Additionally, the transmitter can include an optional temperature sensor for monitoring the ambient temperature in the space.
