ASE DS Series sensors and controllers are housed in a rugged NEMA 3R enclosure for outdoor use. Internal electronics are specified for -40¡C to +85¡C operation. Line-voltage models (100Ð277VAC input) are ETL Listed to UL 508 / CSA C22.2 No. 14 and meet CE EMC directives.

Unlike potted units, DS controllers are field serviceable Ñ electronics are accessible for configuration/adjustment, and the precipitation sensor/grid can be replaced in the field.

The ASE DS-5C is a Rain/Snow Melt Sensor Controller that can be used to automatically activate and deactivate snow melting systems. It has an integral precipitation sensor that can detect a single snowflake or raindrop. The controller can be mounted outdoors and is powered by 100-277V AC. It has two control outputs, each rated at 30A @ 277V AC or 20A @ 28V DC. The DS-5C also has a number of features that can be used to customize its operation, such as a trigger temperature adjustment, a delay-off timer, and a manual override switch.
