The Dwyer RSME-B-005-SS is a next-generation Room Status Monitor for critical low-differential-pressure environments — built around a 4.3" full-color touchscreen and a configurable graphical interface that can monitor up to three rooms from a single unit and display up to four parameters per room (pressure, temperature, relative humidity, air changes per hour, and door status). The RSME uses a piezoresistive pressure sensor and ships standard with both BACnet MS/TP and Modbus RTU communications for direct BAS integration.

The RSME-B-005-SS measures a unidirectional positive 0 to 2.0 in w.c. range with ±0.5% RSS accuracy (±0.01 in w.c. at full scale, after 1-hour warm-up; includes non-linearity, hysteresis, and non-repeatability). Color status indication is immediate: green when parameters are within acceptable range, yellow for the caution range, red when outside acceptable operating range. The brushed stainless steel bezel provides an easy-to-clean front face suitable for healthcare, pharmaceutical, and other wash-down environments where the standard plastic bezel would be unsuitable. Powered by 24 VAC or 24 VDC, with shallow 1.1" mounting depth that flush-mounts in space-constrained wall cavities.

Best for

Pharmaceutical clean rooms maintained at positive pressure, hospital protected environments (immunocompromised patient rooms), school nurse offices, vivariums maintained at controlled positive containment, and any application where the room operates consistently positive relative to the reference space.

2-Year WarrantyManufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal installation, use, and service. Every Series RSME is factory tested and calibrated before shipment. BTL and CE certified.

Key Features

Piezoresistive Sensor, ±0.5% RSS Accuracy

RSS combined accuracy of ±0.5% (±0.01 in w.c. at full scale on this 0 to 2.0 in w.c. range) — includes non-linearity (±0.49% BFSL), hysteresis (±0.05%), and non-repeatability (±0.05%) after a 1-hour warm-up. Thermal effect of ±0.02% FS/°F (zero and span combined).

4.3" Color Touchscreen, User-Configurable GUI

Full-color 480×272 TFT LCD touchscreen with dimmable backlight. Configurable graphical interface lets you choose what's displayed and how, including up to 3 monitored rooms and up to 4 parameters per room — pressure, relative humidity, temperature, air changes per hour (ACH), and door status. Color changes provide at-a-glance status: green / yellow / red.

BACnet MS/TP + Modbus RTU Standard

Both protocols included on every RSME — no upgrade or option to specify. Direct integration with virtually any BAS or industrial control system through the RS-485 port (removable terminal block). USB-C clone-programming port lets you copy configuration from one device to another via the included USB-A flash drive — a major time-saver for multi-unit installations.

Flexible Analog I/O

Two (2) user-selectable analog inputs (4–20 mA, 0–5 VDC, or 0–10 VDC) for external temperature, humidity, or other sensors. One (1) analog output (4–20 mA or 0–10 V, user-selectable) for internal pressure or retransmission of any input. One (1) digital input for door status. One (1) digital output relay rated 5 A @ 30 VDC.

Brushed Stainless Steel Bezel

Brushed stainless steel bezel option — wipe-clean, corrosion-resistant front face suitable for healthcare wash-down protocols, pharmaceutical clean spaces, vivariums, and other environments where the standard plastic bezel would be inappropriate. Same touchscreen, same electronics, same IP65 PMMA window beneath the bezel.

69 dB Audible Alarm + Configurable Alerting

Integrated audible alarm at 69.1 dB measured 10 cm from the display, with full configuration via the touchscreen: alarm delays, mute timeouts, and threshold setpoints per monitored parameter. Red display state coordinates with the audible alarm and digital output relay for local + remote alerting.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Dwyer RSME-B-005-SS monitor, and how is it different from the older RSM series?

The RSME-B-005-SS is a Room Status Monitor with a 4.3" color touchscreen that monitors low differential pressure across the 0 to 2.0 in w.c. range and can also display up to 3 additional parameters per room (relative humidity, temperature, air changes per hour, door status). Major differences vs. the older RSM series: a full-color touchscreen instead of monochrome LCD, ability to monitor up to 3 rooms per unit with 4 parameters each, BACnet MS/TP and Modbus RTU comms standard (RSM has BACnet as an option only), USB-C clone-programming for fast multi-unit deployment, and a shallow 1.1" flush-mount depth.

Why pick a unidirectional (0 to 2.0 in w.c.) range?

Unidirectional ranges fit applications where the room runs consistently positive relative to the reference space — pharmaceutical clean rooms, protected environments for immunocompromised patients, vivariums maintained at positive containment. For rooms that can switch direction (positive for protective isolation, negative for source isolation), use the bidirectional variant (RSME-B-016-SS) with the same accuracy spec covering both polarities.

What does the ±0.5% RSS accuracy spec really mean?

RSS (Root Sum Squared) combines three independent accuracy components into a single specification: non-linearity (±0.49% BFSL), hysteresis (±0.05%), and non-repeatability (±0.05%). At full scale on this 0 to 2.0 in w.c. range, that works out to ±0.01 in w.c. The spec applies after a 1-hour warm-up and includes thermal effects of ±0.02% FS/°F. For cost-sensitive applications where this accuracy is overkill, see the RSME-C-005-SS variant with ±1.0% RSS.

Does the RSME support both BACnet and Modbus, and do I need to choose at order time?

Both protocols are standard on every RSME — no order option, no SKU difference. Configure which protocol is active via the touchscreen menu. BACnet MS/TP runs on the isolated RS-485 port for direct BAS integration; Modbus RTU runs on the same RS-485 port for industrial control or SCADA integration. The unit cannot run both simultaneously on the same RS-485 bus, but switching between them is a menu setting (no firmware change or factory reset needed).

How does the multi-room monitoring work, and what data does each room display?

The RSME can be configured to display up to 3 separate monitored rooms from a single touchscreen, with up to 4 parameters per room: differential pressure (from the internal piezoresistive sensor for the primary room, or from external transmitters wired into the analog inputs for additional rooms), relative humidity, temperature, air changes per hour (ACH, calculated from external sensors), and door status (from the digital input). The configurable GUI lets you choose layout and which parameters are visible. Useful when a single nurses' station or clean-room corridor needs at-a-glance status of several adjacent rooms.

Why the brushed stainless steel bezel, and how do I clean it?

The RSME-B-005-SS ships with a brushed stainless steel bezel instead of the standard plastic. Stainless steel is required for clinical wash-down protocols (hospital infection control, pharmaceutical clean-space cleaning), vivariums where aggressive disinfectants are used, and any environment where the plastic bezel would be inappropriate. Clean with standard hospital-grade disinfectants or mild detergent and water; avoid abrasive scouring pads or solvents that could attack the PMMA touchscreen window beneath the bezel.

How does the RSME mount, and what if I can't recess it into the wall?

Standard installation is flush in-wall at a 1.1" depth into a double-gang opening — the included junction box mounts behind the wall and the RSME snaps onto the junction box. For installations where flush mounting isn't possible (concrete walls, retrofit jobs without behind-wall access, or temporary installations), order the A-RSME-BOX surface-mount box accessory — it lets the RSME mount completely on the wall surface with conduit entry from the side or back. See the recommended accessory section above.

What is USB-C clone programming, and how does it speed up multi-unit installations?

Every RSME ships with a USB-A flash drive and a USB-C port on the unit. After you configure one RSME (setpoints, units, alarm thresholds, BACnet/Modbus address scheme, room layouts, everything), you can export the entire configuration to the flash drive in a single menu operation, then import it into the next RSME via the same port. For a facility installing 20+ RSME units across multiple isolation rooms or clean spaces, this drops per-unit configuration time from 15–30 minutes to about 2 minutes. The clone-import preserves device-specific identifiers (MAC, BACnet device instance) that need to differ between units.
