The Contemporary Controls EISK5-100T/FT Skorpion Switch is a 5-port unmanaged Ethernet switch combining 4 RJ-45 copper ports (10/100 Mbps) with 1 fibre uplink port (100 Mbps) with an ST-connector multimode fibre uplink for mid-distance runs of up to 2 km. The fibre port is preset for full-duplex operation, while the copper ports auto-negotiate speed and duplex. A half-wave rectified low-voltage power supply accepts 10-36 VDC or 24 VAC, allowing the switch to share a common 24VAC control bus with actuators, sensors, and other field devices. At only 26 mm (1 inch) wide, it fits where DIN-rail space is at a premium, and a writable side label lets the installer document each cable run right on the unit.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which FT model do I need: FC, FT, or FCS?
For new installations using SC connectors, see the EISK5-100T/FC (SC multimode) instead. For long-distance single-mode runs up to 15 km, see the EISK5-100T/FCS. All three variants share the same hardware (4 copper ports, 26 mm wide, UL 508 listed, half-wave rectified PSU) and differ only in the fibre port: connector type and mode. Match your existing fibre patch panels, media converters, or peer switches to avoid an incompatible link.
Why is the fibre port full-duplex only?
The 100BASE-FX standard defines fibre links as full-duplex by default in industrial and commercial deployments. The EISK5-100T/FT's fibre port is preset for 100 Mbps full-duplex operation to deliver maximum performance and reliability without auto-negotiation overhead. Make sure the device on the other end of the fibre link is also configured for 100 Mbps full-duplex to prevent duplex mismatch errors.
Can the EISK5-100T/FT be installed in a UL 508A control panel?
Yes. The EISK5-100T/FT is UL 508 Listed and c-UL Listed for Industrial Control Equipment. UL 508-listed components are directly acceptable for use in UL 508A panels without invalidating the panel listing, as long as the device is supplied from a Class 2 limited-energy source per the panel's circuit requirements.
Can I power the switch from my existing 24VAC control bus?
Yes. The EISK5-100T/FT uses a half-wave rectified low-voltage power supply, which means it can share a common 24VAC source with other control devices such as actuators, valves, sensors, and thermostats. Power draw is 3 W on DC or 6 VA on AC.
Does the switch require any configuration?
No. The EISK5-100T/FT is fully unmanaged and plug-and-play. It has no IP address, no web interface, and no firmware to set up. The four copper ports auto-negotiate speed (10/100) and duplex (half/full), and Auto-MDIX accepts straight-through or crossover cables. The fibre port is factory-preset for 100 Mbps full-duplex.
Is the EISK5-100T/FT suitable for outdoor installations?
No. The EISK5-100T/FT has an indoor operating range of 0°C to +60°C and IP30 protection, and is not rated for outdoor or extreme-temperature applications. Outdoor or wide-temperature deployments require a weather-rated enclosure or a switch rated for the conditions.
What do the per-port LEDs indicate?
The four copper ports each have two LEDs. The "L" LED glows green for an established 100 Mbps link, yellow for 10 Mbps, and flashes when data is being transmitted or received. The "D" LED glows green when the link is in full-duplex mode and is off in half-duplex (where it briefly flashes on collision). The fibre port has a single LED that glows solid green when linked to a working 100BASE-FX peer and flashes during data transmission. A separate green Power LED confirms supply status.
