The Miljoco-Weiss DVUT35 is a light powered Vari-Angle self-indicating temperature transmitter with a 3-1/2 in. thermowell stem. It shows -50 to 300°F locally on a switchable LCD and transmits the same measurement as a loop powered 4-20 mA signal to a building automation system.

Overview

The DVUT combines the patented mercury free Vari-Angle solar thermometer with a loop powered 4 to 20 mA transmitter in one body. Dual sensors run independently, so the local reading and the transmitted signal do not share a failure point, and the whole assembly needs only one thermowell.

Key Features

Local display and 4-20 mA output in one body

The first self-indicating light powered temperature transmitter. The gauge reads locally while the loop reports to the building automation system, from a single thermowell.

Dual independent sensors

A glass passivated NTC thermistor drives the local display and a Platinum 100 ohm RTD drives the transmitter, so a failure on one side does not take out the other.

One thermowell, two functions

Replacing a separate gauge and well-mounted transmitter with one instrument saves a tapping, a well and the labor to install both.

Compatible with most building automation systems

Standard 4-20 mA loop output into any BAS analog input, with a 775 ohm maximum load on a 24 VDC supply.

Light powered local display

The indicating side needs 10 Lux of ambient light, not a supply, so the local reading survives a loop power problem.

Switchable °F and °C

The local scale switches in the field across the full -50 to 300°F range.

Source conflict: Transmitter supply voltageThe DVUT data sheet specification block states 8 to 35 VDC. The wiring diagram on the same data sheet states 8.5 to 35 VDC. Size the loop supply to the 8.5 VDC figure to satisfy both statements.
Source conflict: 4-20 mA output scalingThe DVUT standard range table states -50 to 300°F (-45 to 150°C). The loop table at RL = 250 ohms scales 4 mA to -58°F (-50°C) and 20 mA to +302°F (+150°C). Scale the building automation input from the loop table and confirm the endpoints with the factory.
Source conflict: Resolution range, Celsius equivalentThe data sheet states resolution of 1/10° between -19.9 and 199.9°F and prints the Celsius equivalent as (28-93°C). Converted, -19.9°F is -28.8°C, so the low end of the Celsius figure appears to be missing its minus sign. Warranty service requires written notice of the defect within seven days of discovery. Remedy is repair, replacement or credit at the manufacturer's discretion. Normal wear, corrosion, misuse and unauthorized modification are excluded.
