Functional Devices Pilot Relays — The Original Relay in a Box®
The RIB® pilot relay is the most-installed enclosed relay in commercial HVAC and building automation. Functional Devices invented the Relay in a Box® concept — a relay, socket, and housing pre-assembled so installers don’t have to buy and assemble separate components in the field. The result is faster installation, fewer wiring errors, and a cleaner panel.
The RIBU1C is the industry standard — a 10A SPDT relay with a universal coil that accepts 10–30V AC/DC or 120V AC. It’s used in virtually every commercial HVAC application from fan status sensing to BAS interface. LED status indicator, 1/2” NPT nipple for conduit knockout mounting, and a 10 million cycle minimum mechanical life.
The pilot relay line covers SPDT, SPST, DPDT, and multi-relay configurations with coil voltages from 12V to 480V. Whether you need the standard RIBU1C or a specialized variant like the RIBU2C (two relays) or RIBH1C (high-voltage coil), ZOT Supply stocks the full range with real-time inventory.

When pilot relay contacts aren’t enough for the load, Functional Devices power relays step in. Rated at 20A to 30A, these enclosed relays handle fans, pumps, lighting loads, and motor circuits that exceed the 10A pilot relay range.
The RIB2401B (20A SPST, 24V coil) and RIB24P (20A DPDT, 24V coil) are the most common, but the power relay line also includes high-voltage coil options, DPDT configurations, and models with manual override switches for service flexibility. All come pre-wired in NEMA 1 housings with LED status indicators.
The RIBMNLB family is particularly notable for AHU applications — it combines fan status sensing, fan safety shutdown, and damper actuator control in a single device, eliminating multiple discrete components in a single panel location.

Functional Devices current sensors and switches are the most widely used current sensing products in commercial HVAC. A current switch installed on a motor circuit provides a simple, reliable proof-of-operation signal to a BAS or DDC controller without any additional wiring to the motor itself.
Split-core designs clamp around an existing wire — no wire cutting or interruption of the circuit. The RIBXGTA series includes adjustable trip points for different load sizes and has a specially designed low-current model for ECM (Electronically Commutated Motor) applications, which produce a significantly lower current draw than standard motors and are increasingly common in modern high-efficiency HVAC systems.
Current transducers (analog output) are also available for applications requiring a proportional 4–20mA or 0–10V output for BTU metering, demand monitoring, or integration into energy management systems.

Functional Devices Class 2 transformers are a staple in HVAC control panels — stepping 120V line voltage down to 24V AC for control circuits, actuators, thermostats, and relay coils. UL 5085-3 listed, CSA, CE, and RoHS compliant, with built-in circuit breaker protection to eliminate the need for a separate fuse.
The TIB100A is the industry’s first housed DIN rail-mountable transformer — 100VA, 120V to 24V, with a circuit breaker and snap-on 35mm DIN rail mounting. It eliminates the foot-mount and conduit hub installation traditionally required for control transformers, dramatically reducing panel build time.
The full transformer line covers VA ratings from 20VA to 150VA+, with primary voltages including 120V, 208V, 240V, 277V, and 480V. MTBF of 100,000 hours at 77°F — reliability you can design around.
BACnet Intelligent Field Devices
Functional Devices BACnet Relays & Power Meters — Intelligent I/O for Building Automation
Functional Devices has expanded well beyond the traditional RIB® relay into BACnet-enabled intelligent field devices — network relays, power meters, and multi-function I/O devices that integrate directly into any BACnet MS/TP or BACnet/IP building automation system.
The RIBTW2421B-BCIP BACnet/IP relay combines a 20A relay with a current sensor input and dry contact input in a single track-mount device — fully discoverable on a BACnet/IP network. The RIBPM413-BC is a revenue-grade BACnet power meter for single and three-phase systems, with built-in BACnet MS/TP and support for multiple CTs for multi-circuit metering. No separate BACnet interface required — it discovers directly on the MS/TP trunk.
These devices are particularly valuable for energy management projects, tenant submetering, and building commissioning where native BACnet integration eliminates the cost and complexity of separate gateways.
