The Contemporary Controls EISW8-100T is an 8-port unmanaged Ethernet switch built for control panel and building automation networks. It delivers 10/100 Mbps non-blocking performance on every port with full plug-and-play operation — no IP address, no web interface, no firmware setup. Wide-range dual power inputs accept 12-48 VDC or 24 VAC, with a redundant DC input and a fault-relay output for power-supply monitoring. A rugged metal enclosure and a -40°C to +75°C operating range make it well suited to industrial and outdoor-enclosure installations.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the EISW8-100T be installed in a UL 508A control panel?
Yes. The EISW8-100T is UL Listed under UL 62368-1 as Information and Communication Technology Equipment (ITE). UL 508A Supplement SA1.1 §44.1.4 recognizes Listed ITE/ICT equipment as an acceptable component in UL 508A panels when supplied by a Class 2 limited-energy circuit. Powering the switch from a Listed Class 2 transformer (UL 5085-1/5085-3) or Listed Class 2 power unit (UL 1310) preserves the panel's UL 508A listing.
Does the switch require any configuration?
No. The EISW8-100T is fully unmanaged and plug-and-play. It has no IP address, no web interface, and no firmware to set up. Each port auto-negotiates speed (10/100) and duplex (half/full), and Auto-MDIX accepts either straight-through or crossover cables. Power it, plug it in, and it forwards traffic.
What power options are available?
The 6-pin removable connector accepts 12-48 VDC on the V1 input, 24 VAC on the V1 input, or DC on both V1 and V2 inputs for redundant powering. For UL 508A panel installations, a Listed Class 2 transformer is recommended. Inputs are reverse-polarity protected and the unit draws only 2.5 W on DC or 4 VA on AC.
What does the fault relay output do?
Pins 3 and 4 of the connector form a normally-open contact that is held closed while both power inputs are healthy. If either P1 or P2 power is lost, the contact opens — letting a controller, BMS, or annunciator detect the loss. The contact is rated 24 VDC at 1 A.
Is the EISW8-100T suitable for outdoor installations?
The switch has a wide -40°C to +75°C operating range, so it tolerates outdoor temperature swings. However, IP30 protection only blocks larger solid objects and provides no water resistance — so outdoor use requires installation inside a weather-rated enclosure (NEMA 4 or higher).
How is this switch different from the EISW16-100T?
The EISW16-100T offers double the ports (16 vs 8), a much larger 16K MAC address table (vs 1K), Jumbo Frame support, and per-port amber speed LEDs that distinguish 100 Mbps from 10 Mbps links. Otherwise both share the same power inputs, fault relay, temperature range, and UL listings.
