The Senva EMX-L is a simplified, revenue-grade True RMS electrical energy meter (ANSI C12.20 Class 0.2, 0.2% meter accuracy) with BACnet MS/TP, Modbus RTU, and Modbus ASCII over 2-wire RS-485, 2 pulse inputs, and 2 pulse outputs. It shares the EMX terminal layout but omits the display, data logging, and RTC for a lower-cost installation. It is self-powered from 1 to 3 phase service (90–600V), monitors loads from 0.25 to 6000A using any 0.333V CT or metering Rogowski coil, mounts on PR30 DIN rail, and is made in the USA by Senva, Inc. (Buy American Act, BABAA, ARRA, and TAA conformant).
Senva EMX-L Lite True RMS Energy Meter
The Senva EMX-L delivers the EMX revenue-grade metering engine in a streamlined package for projects where the BAS does the trending and a local display is unnecessary. It keeps the same terminals, the same BACnet MS/TP, Modbus RTU, and Modbus ASCII protocols over 2-wire RS-485, and the same dual pulse outputs as the flagship EMX — removing only the display, data logging, and real-time clock.
Configuration is handled entirely through the SenvaSync app over NFC, even while the meter is powered off. The EMX-L is line-powered from the monitored service (1 to 3 phase, 90–600V), accepts any 0.333V CT or standard metering Rogowski coil without external integrators, and maintains 0.2% ANSI C12.20 Class 0.2 True RMS accuracy on distorted, harmonic-rich loads.
Best For
- Energy management and performance contracting
- Tenant submetering and activity-based costing in commercial and industrial facilities
- Real-time power monitoring and load shedding

Key Features
Revenue-Grade Accuracy
0.2% meter accuracy to ANSI C12.20 Class 0.2 standards with 1% system accuracy for V, A, kW, kVAR, and kVA — suitable for tenant billing and cost allocation.
Simplified, Cost-Effective
Same metering engine and terminals as the EMX, minus the display, logging, and RTC — the right fit when the BAS handles trending and history.
SenvaSync NFC Setup
No display needed: configure everything from the SenvaSync app on iOS or Android over NFC — even while the meter is powered off.
BACnet & Modbus on RS-485
BACnet MS/TP, Modbus RTU, and Modbus ASCII over 2-wire RS-485 at baud rates from 9600 to 115200 — drops onto virtually any BAS trunk.
Universal CT Input
Accepts any 0.333V split-core CT or standard metering Rogowski coil with no bulky external integrators — ideal for retrofits with existing CTs.
Self-Powered + Pulse I/O
Line-powered from 1 to 3 phase service, 90VLN–600VLL, with 2 pulse inputs and 2 pulse outputs (import & export energy).

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Senva EMX-L a revenue-grade meter?
Yes. The EMX-L meets ANSI C12.20 Class 0.2 standards (0.2% meter accuracy), commonly referred to as ANSI revenue grade, making it suitable for tenant submetering and billing applications.
How do I configure the EMX-L without a display?
Through the SenvaSync app on iOS or Android over NFC. All settings — service type, CT assignment, protocol, addressing — are handled in the app, and configuration works even while the meter is powered off.
Does the EMX-L log data?
No. The EMX-L omits onboard logging and the real-time clock. Energy and power values are read live over BACnet MS/TP or Modbus, so trending and history are handled by the connected BAS or data acquisition system. If onboard logging is needed, choose the standard EMX.
What is the difference between the EMX-L and the EMX?
The EMX-L shares the EMX terminals, RS-485 protocols (BACnet MS/TP, Modbus RTU/ASCII), pulse inputs, and pulse outputs, but removes the OLED display, data logging, and RTC for a simplified, lower-cost installation.
Does the EMX-L work with my existing CTs?
Yes. The EMX-L accepts any standard 0.333V output CT as well as standard metering Rogowski coils, with no external integrators required.
Is the Senva EMX-L Buy American Act compliant?
Yes. The EMX series is manufactured in the USA by Senva in Beaverton, Oregon, and conforms to the Buy American Act, Build America Buy America Act (BABAA), ARRA Section 1605, and the Trade Agreements Act (TAA). The signed 2026 conformance declaration is available in the documentation section above.
