Functional Devices RIBPM413-BC-KIT Enclosed BACnet Power Meter Kit

The Functional Devices RIBPM413-BC-KIT is a complete, prewired revenue-grade power metering package: the BACnet MS/TP RIBPM413-BC meter, a 3-pole 600 V disconnect switch, a Class CC fuse holder, and 2 A fast-acting fuses, all factory-assembled in an 18-gauge steel NEMA 1 enclosure measuring 8.3 x 7.7 x 3.9 inches (9.2 in wide with the switch). Bulletin B2646 requires fusing on the voltage inputs and a marked disconnect device for every installation — the kit delivers that code-required protection out of the box, leaving only the field wiring, current transformers, and MS/TP trunk to terminate.

Inside, the meter is the same revenue-grade, 4-quadrant RIBPM413-BC: self-powered from Line 1 to Neutral at under 2 VA, compatible with any UL or ETL Listed 333 mV current transformer, and bidirectional for NET metering on single-phase or three-phase services from 120 to 277 Vac line-to-neutral. Current transformers are sold separately — size them from the Functional Devices CT series to match the metered load.

Specifications verified against the Functional Devices RIBPM413-BC-KIT datasheet (rev. 2026.02.19), Bulletin B2818 (393309), Bulletin B2646 (393290), and BACnet PICS v1.00 (April 9, 2020).

Key Features

Complete Prewired Package

Meter, disconnect, fuse holder, and fuses arrive factory-assembled and wired in one enclosure. Land the voltage taps, CTs, and MS/TP trunk, and the metering point is done.

Code-Required Protection Built In

Bulletin B2646 calls for Listed 2 A fast-blow fuses and a Listed 600 V disconnect marked as the disconnect device. The kit includes a 3-pole 600 V, 16 A disconnect switch and Class CC fast-acting fuses already in circuit.

Revenue-Grade RIBPM413-BC Inside

The metering board measures voltage, current, and power to 0.5% accuracy (under 0.2% typical across the working range) and power factor to 0.5% between 0.5 and 1.0, with 4-quadrant energy resolution.

Native BACnet MS/TP

BACnet Protocol Revision 14, B-ASC profile, with baud rates from 9600 to 115200 set over the network. Defaults ship as Device ID 277050, MAC 50, 38400-N-8-1.

Bidirectional NET Metering

Net counters accumulate consumption as positive and generation as negative, while split counters report total import and export energy separately, so utility-style reconciliation is available straight from BACnet.

Rugged NEMA 1 Steel Enclosure

18-gauge steel with a screw-down cover, 8.3 x 7.7 x 3.9 inches (9.2 in wide with switch), UL Listed, CE, and RoHS, suitable for indoor mounting close to the panel or load being metered.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in the RIBPM413-BC-KIT?

The RIBPM413-BC power meter board, a 3-pole 600 V 16 A disconnect switch, a 3-pole Class CC fuse holder, and 2 A fast-acting Class CC fuses, prewired in an 18-gauge steel NEMA 1 enclosure. Current transformers are not included and are sold separately.

Do I still need to add fuses or a disconnect in the field?

No. Bulletin B2646 requires Listed 2 A fast-blow fuses on the voltage inputs and a Listed 600 V disconnect marked as the disconnect device, and the kit ships with both already wired in circuit.

Which current transformers work with this meter?

Any UL or ETL Listed 333 mV output current transformer. Functional Devices' CT series (25 A through 600 A split-core, solid-core models, and ROPE Rogowski coils with a MOD converter) are drop-in choices. After installation, write the CT rating to the CT-Ratings object (AV-8005) so readings scale correctly.

Does the kit need an external power supply?

No. The RIBPM413-BC meter inside powers itself from the metered circuit, drawing under 2 VA from Line 1 to Neutral. A neutral connection is required, supporting 1-phase 2-wire, 1-phase 3-wire, and 3-phase 4-wire services from 120 to 277 Vac line-to-neutral.

Can it measure energy flowing in both directions?

Yes. The meter is bidirectional for NET metering. Net energy registers accumulate consumption as positive and generation as negative, and split registers (for example EnergyP_Tot_Imp and EnergyP_Tot_Exp) report import and export totals separately.

How does it connect to my building automation system?

Over BACnet MS/TP using 18-22 AWG shielded twisted pair. Defaults are Device ID 277050, MAC address 50, and 38400-N-8-1; all parameters are changed over BACnet. If the meter is the end-of-line device on the trunk, terminate B(+) to A(-) with a 120 ohm resistor.

Is there a replacement part for the meter board?

Yes. Per Bulletin B2818, the meter board in the kit is the standard RIBPM413-BC — order it separately if a replacement is ever needed.
