The Pilla BSD120KR is an emergency boiler shut-down station with a key release maintained operator — a key is required to reset the station after actuation, mounted in a yellow NEMA 4/4X/12 enclosure with bold luminous "EMERGENCY BOILER SHUT-DOWN" legends. Contact blocks are ordered separately — the standard enclosure accepts 1-3 contact blocks. UL Listed and C-UL Listed.

Best for: Facilities requiring that only authorized personnel with a key can reset the boiler shut-down station after an emergency.

When to Specify the BSD120KR — Key Release

The BSD120KR requires a key to reset the mushroom operator after the boiler is shut down. After actuation, the button stays latched and cannot be reset without the key. Two keys are included. Specify when it is critical that only authorized personnel can restart the boiler after an emergency shut-down — preventing unauthorized restart in facilities with safety protocols, high-liability environments, or where restart must be preceded by a formal inspection.

Commercial Boiler Rooms

Emergency shut-down for commercial heating boilers in hotels, schools, hospitals, and office buildings

Industrial Heating Plants

Emergency stop for industrial process boilers and steam generation equipment requiring maintained contact

Fuel Shut-Off Interlock

Interfaces to gas valve or fuel oil shut-off controls to de-energize burner on emergency actuation

Mechanical Room Safety

Clearly identified emergency stop point per local fire and mechanical codes

Multi-Circuit Shut-Down

Multiple contact blocks allow simultaneous shut-down of burner, fuel valve, and ventilation circuits

Code-Compliant Emergency Stop

Satisfies NFPA 85, local mechanical codes, and AHJ requirements for identified boiler shut-down stations

Contact Block Selection — PILNCCB vs. PILNOCB

Contact blocks are ordered separately. The PILNCCB (normally closed) opens the circuit when the button is pushed — the standard configuration for boiler shut-down where pushing breaks the control circuit. The PILNOCB (normally open) closes the circuit when pushed. Order the contact type that matches your control circuit design. Contact blocks accept up to 10 AWG wiring.

What contact blocks does the BSD120KR accept?
The BSD120KR accepts Pilla PILNCCB (normally closed) and PILNOCB (normally open) contact blocks, ordered separately. The standard enclosure fits 1-3 contact blocks. Normally closed (PILNCCB) is the standard choice for boiler shut-down circuits where pushing the button opens the control circuit.
How is the BSD120KR reset after actuation?
The BSD120KR resets by key required to reset. A key is required to reset the operator after actuation. This prevents unauthorized restart of the boiler.
What is the enclosure rating on the BSD120KR?
The BSD120KR carries a NEMA 4/4X/12 enclosure rating. NEMA 4 and 4X provide protection against rain, splashing water, hose-directed water, and corrosion. NEMA 12 provides protection against dust and dripping non-corrosive liquids.
Does the BSD120 series include contact blocks?
No. All BSD120 series stations ship as the housing and operator assembly. Contact blocks are ordered separately. Use PILNCCB for normally closed contacts and PILNOCB for normally open contacts.
Why specify the BSD120KR over the standard BSD120?
Key release reset, two keys included, key required after actuation See all BSD120 series options on this page to find the configuration that best matches your application requirements.
