The Pilla BSD120MDY is an emergency boiler shut-down station with a maintained push-pull mushroom operator rated for 20 amp maximum duty operation, mounted in a yellow NEMA 4X/12 enclosure with bold luminous "EMERGENCY BOILER SHUT-DOWN" legends. Contact blocks are ordered separately — the standard enclosure accepts 1-3 contact blocks. UL Listed and C-UL Listed.

Best for: High-current boiler shut-down applications requiring a 20A rated station for direct switching of larger loads.

When to Specify the BSD120MDY — Maximum Duty 20A Rating

The BSD120MDY is the maximum duty version of the BSD120, rated at 20 amps compared to the standard 10A model. Specify when the boiler shut-down station must directly switch higher-current loads — such as larger motor loads, high-current fuel valve coils, or industrial heating equipment with elevated current requirements that exceed the 10A rating of the standard BSD120.

Code-Compliant Emergency Stop

Satisfies NFPA 85, local mechanical codes, and AHJ requirements for identified boiler shut-down stations

Contact Block Selection — PILNCCB vs. PILNOCB

Contact blocks are ordered separately. The PILNCCB (normally closed) opens the circuit when the button is pushed — the standard configuration for boiler shut-down where pushing breaks the control circuit. The PILNOCB (normally open) closes the circuit when pushed. Order the contact type that matches your control circuit design. Contact blocks accept up to 10 AWG wiring.

What contact blocks does the BSD120MDY accept?
The BSD120MDY accepts Pilla PILNCCB (normally closed) and PILNOCB (normally open) contact blocks, ordered separately. The standard enclosure fits 1-3 contact blocks. Normally closed (PILNCCB) is the standard choice for boiler shut-down circuits where pushing the button opens the control circuit.
How is the BSD120MDY reset after actuation?
The BSD120MDY resets by pull to reset. The maintained mushroom operator stays in the latched position after being pushed and must be deliberately reset before the boiler control circuit can be re-energized.
What is the enclosure rating on the BSD120MDY?
The BSD120MDY carries a NEMA 4X/12 enclosure rating. NEMA 4 and 4X provide protection against rain, splashing water, hose-directed water, and corrosion. NEMA 12 provides protection against dust and dripping non-corrosive liquids.
Does the BSD120 series include contact blocks?
No. All BSD120 series stations ship as the housing and operator assembly. Contact blocks are ordered separately. Use PILNCCB for normally closed contacts and PILNOCB for normally open contacts.
Why specify the BSD120MDY over the standard BSD120?
Maximum duty model, 20 amp rating See all BSD120 series options on this page to find the configuration that best matches your application requirements.
