The Pilla BSD120XD is an emergency boiler shut-down station with a maintained push-pull mushroom operator in an extra depth enclosure that fits up to 9 contact blocks, mounted in a yellow NEMA 4X/12 enclosure with bold luminous "EMERGENCY BOILER SHUT-DOWN" legends. Contact blocks are ordered separately — the standard enclosure accepts 9 contact blocks. UL Listed and C-UL Listed.

Best for: Boiler installations requiring up to 9 contact blocks for simultaneous multi-circuit shut-down from a single station.

When to Specify the BSD120XD — Extra Depth for Multiple Contact Circuits

The BSD120XD uses a deeper enclosure than the standard BSD120, providing capacity for up to 9 contact blocks — triple the capacity of the standard model. Specify when the boiler shut-down station must simultaneously switch multiple control circuits beyond the 3-block capacity of the standard BSD120, such as installations requiring independent control of burner, gas valve, fuel oil valve, circulation pump, and ventilation fan from a single station.

Commercial Boiler Rooms

Emergency shut-down for commercial heating boilers in hotels, schools, hospitals, and office buildings

Industrial Heating Plants

Emergency stop for industrial process boilers and steam generation equipment requiring maintained contact

Fuel Shut-Off Interlock

Interfaces to gas valve or fuel oil shut-off controls to de-energize burner on emergency actuation

Mechanical Room Safety

Clearly identified emergency stop point per local fire and mechanical codes

Multi-Circuit Shut-Down

Multiple contact blocks allow simultaneous shut-down of burner, fuel valve, and ventilation circuits

Code-Compliant Emergency Stop

Satisfies NFPA 85, local mechanical codes, and AHJ requirements for identified boiler shut-down stations

Contact Block Selection — PILNCCB vs. PILNOCB

Contact blocks are ordered separately. The PILNCCB (normally closed) opens the circuit when the button is pushed — the standard configuration for boiler shut-down where pushing breaks the control circuit. The PILNOCB (normally open) closes the circuit when pushed. Order the contact type that matches your control circuit design. Contact blocks accept up to 10 AWG wiring.

What contact blocks does the BSD120XD accept?
The BSD120XD accepts Pilla PILNCCB (normally closed) and PILNOCB (normally open) contact blocks, ordered separately. The standard enclosure fits 9 contact blocks. Normally closed (PILNCCB) is the standard choice for boiler shut-down circuits where pushing the button opens the control circuit.
How is the BSD120XD reset after actuation?
The BSD120XD resets by pull to reset. The maintained mushroom operator stays in the latched position after being pushed and must be deliberately reset before the boiler control circuit can be re-energized.
What is the enclosure rating on the BSD120XD?
The BSD120XD carries a NEMA 4X/12 enclosure rating. NEMA 4 and 4X provide protection against rain, splashing water, hose-directed water, and corrosion. NEMA 12 provides protection against dust and dripping non-corrosive liquids.
Does the BSD120 series include contact blocks?
No. All BSD120 series stations ship as the housing and operator assembly. Contact blocks are ordered separately. Use PILNCCB for normally closed contacts and PILNOCB for normally open contacts.
Why specify the BSD120XD over the standard BSD120?
Extra depth enclosure, fits up to 9 contact blocks See all BSD120 series options on this page to find the configuration that best matches your application requirements.
